Riyoko Ikeda (池田 理代子 Ikeda Riyoko, December 18, 1947– ) is a Japanese mangaka. She was innate within Osaka.
She has written numbers of shōjo manga, many of which are based on historical events, such as the French Revolution or the Russian Revolution.
Her best known manga is The Rose of Versailles (ベルサイユのばら Berusaiyu no bara). This manga, loosely according to a French Revolution, was made into the Takarazuka musical and into animated films. Her recent manga includes Der Ring des Nibelungen. These are the manga version of the opera written by Richard Wagner (4 volumes. Promulgated 2001-2002 by Shueisha in Japanese).
